We've been asked about a variety of things that
have to do with Gus Outdoors. Here's a list of things that Gus &
Talus use, like, eat, drink and more! If we missed something feel free
to ask us your questions through our feedback tab. What does Gus like to eat?
Gus loves to eat Sugar Snap Peas - by far his favorite food. We
supplement his intake by growing some of our own that he and Talus
planted in our backyard.
What's the strangest food Gus has eaten? Probably
conch (a very large snail). He likes it breaded, but the trick is don't
tell him what it is until he's done with dinner...
Mares Kona Kids' Mask & Snorkel Set The trouble with fitting kids with snorkeling
gear is that if it's not comfortable you're in for a struggle. This
Mares set was the solution because the skirt on the mask is REALLY soft
& comfortable and the snorkel fits just right. Talus is now using
the same set and is happily snorkeling with her big brother.
More on the food & drink thing... Every
morning as a family we drink a 'shake' here are the ingredients... very
delicious! Play with the measurements to adjust it to your liking.
Udo's Oil - we use 2 Tablespoons and get it locally at a health food store.
Vitamin D - we use 4 drops (1 per person) and get it locally at a health food store.
Raw Whole Protein
- right now we have the Manitoba Harvest brand but we alternate based
on price, but try to get the containers that have 15 gram of protein. We
use 4-scoops. Refrigerate this is a raw food. Drinkables: Miracle Fruits of the World
- Noni, Acai, Pomegrante, Mangosteen, Aloe Vera, Goji Berry juices and
more! This is not a pleasant tasting mix of juices, but it mixes well
and is hidden within the other ingredients. This genrally comes with a
cap and we use one of them. It just sounds healthy doesn't it?
Amazing Grass's Green Super Food
- we've tried many different raw green products and this one has the
best taste as far as the kids go. We have tried to sneak in other brands
and were caught first sip! Keep in your freezer this is a raw food.
2 Whole Bananas - these are a must because we're pretty sure it's the ingredient that over powers the 'healthy' ingredients.
1 Cup of Mixed Fruits
- You can get bigger bags of these at places like a Costco or BJ's. The
frozen fruit make the shake/smoothy refreshing and more like a treat.
1/2 of Blueberry's - These guys make the shake a yummy purple color and are so good for you. You can get bigger bags of these at places like a Costco or BJ's.
Coconut Water - is
one of the best drinks you can put into your body and is all natural.
It is as good or better than Gatorade when it comes to hydration.
Top of with milk of your choice (buy local).
There
may be a little sticker shock when you first purchase all of the
ingredients at once, but keep in mind that the pricey raw food powders
should last up to 30 days. The Vitamin D will last a year (with 4
people). There are so many brands that can be substituted for the above,
we use these because the a locally available.
