Gus Outdoors is a series of natural history DVD's for kids created by Gus (7-years old) and his Dad, Sean (39 years old). Throughout Gus' childhood we've spent a lot of time looking for adventures that kids can safely enjoy in their own backyards.
For instance, in our backyard we have an island that we call Gull Island - Episode #1 - where sea birds nest throughout the summer. It's an interesting place to visit! Even though the common opinion of sea gulls is not that great, we spent four months visiting them frequently to follow their nesting and feeding behaviors. It turns out sea gulls are excellent parents and cool creatures!
"I watched the 23-minute long Gull Island with both of my
explorers and they were captivated from the moment the show started." Debi Huang, @goexplorenature
"I actually found the film fascinating since I'm not a huge fan of
seagulls (who often disrupt my beach lunch) but this [Gull Island] gave me a whole
new appreciation of the birds." Michele Meek, Newenglandfilm.com
"Gus
"floated everyone's boat" in many different ways. The quality of film
production, the soundtrack and editing, Gus' narration and off the cuff
comments were all great ingredients to this film." Eric Bilodeau, Providence Children's film Festival
Gull Island is an Official Selection of the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival & Providence Children's Film Festival!
